Lumpkin County Family Connection is proud to be recognized by the Georgia Family Support Network as a Family Resource Center aligned with the National Family Resource Center Model™.
Family Resource Centers are trusted, community-based hubs where families can voluntarily access support, build connections, strengthen parenting and family relationships, and connect with resources that help them thrive.
Our organization has demonstrated alignment with the model’s foundational approach and core components:
- Parenting Activities & Education
- Parent Education: evidence-based and research-informed parenting education programs, classes, and one-time workshops
- Support Groups: specialized groups and programs for targeted populations or needs
- Parent-Child/Youth Activities: Storytimes, music and movement sessions, structured playgroups, parent-youth activities, home visitation programs, and child development-focused activities
- Information, Resources & Referrals
- Direct Support: distribution of resources such as food, diapers, children’s books, hygiene kits, back-to-school supplies, car seats, and safety items
- Information Sharing: Guidance on child/adolescent development milestones, nutrition, breastfeeding, financial education, and family well-being
- Referrals & Service Navigation: Connecting families to external services such as early intervention, utility or rental assistance, food banks, workforce development, childcare and after-school programs, housing programs, and child, youth and family mental health programs
- Community Engagement & Leadership
- Family Voice and Leadership: providing opportunities for active participation in program, agency and community design and feedback
- Community Events: baby showers, back-to-school fairs, literacy celebrations, holiday gatherings, and community resource fairs that build relationships and strengthen connections among families and local partners.
- Community Leadership: FRCs collaborate with local community partners to address emerging needs of local communities
This recognition reflects our commitment to providing family-centered, strengths-based, accessible support and to continually strengthening the quality of our work alongside families and our community.
As a GFSN Family Resource Center, we are part of a growing statewide network working toward a future where families throughout Georgia have access to high-quality family support close to home.
